Our Story
In a world where social media seems to be taking over, anxieties are high and self-esteems are low...the good news is mental health is more widely spoken about and sought after. People are striving to do better and feel better. And we need to start this work earlier, in our younger kids, helping them learn to cope with challenges, build their confidence, know it is okay to feel different emotions and to talk about them.
This is why Diggin Up Peace was developed. I am a clinical mental health counselor who works with young kids. I am also a mother to a young child. I see first hand in my professional and personal life the challenges kids today are facing. The "acting out" because they don't know how to deal with their BIG feelings, they don't know how to identify what they are feeling, or how to respond to their emotions. I wanted to create something that could reach many kids, something to give them tools, help them learn and grow, and feel confident in their ability! My son has been by my side in creating this, it has been a fun experience to do it together. And our name came from him, Diggin Up, and Peace was added as it won a family vote :) We are hoping others find the joy with their families and kids in exploring how great their mental health can be when we work at it!
